Charlie Cowie Schmidt

Nov 15, 2008
About a year ago we were traveling from Decator to Gainesville on an FM road that was very woody and bushy. We went over a little bridge and Brent slams on the brakes and jerks the truck around. We had no clue what was going on. Pet lover that he was saw a little kitty on top of the bridge all alone. He went to look for it and the momma was no where to be seen and it was out in the middle of nowhere. Brent picked it up and we took it back to the ranch in Gainesville. We weren't ready for a cat so the owner of the ranch adopted it. Karson lugged that kitty around the entire time we were at the ranch and then for the next year asked to go back to see his kitty. He asked the owner about it everytime he saw her. Then the last month he has been praying for God to help his kitty not be sick. When we went to the ranch the last time, the cat was gone(coyotes probably). Karson really missed her. I commented that we were going to have to get a cat but wasn't really that serious. I don't do indoor cats very well. So, Karson's birthday came up on the 12th and Brent was still in Gainesville. He was actually heading to the Waco area with another horse trainer to sale a horse. He called to wish Karson happy birthday and informed me that the girl had a kitty and he was bringing it to Karson. Major Shock!! So, he brought the kitty home when he hitched a ride with Lyneil and the boys. Remember Braxton is SEVERLY allergic to cats and pets. The cat had to stay in a box. I think it did escape a couple of times. Probably a wild ride but thanks Lyneil for putting up with us once again!! So they crew showed up just as Karson's birthday party was starting. Dad brought the kitty over to Karson and his face lit up. It was the best present!!! Now we are just having to get accustomed to having an indoor cat until it warms up some. Lots of trials lately!!

Karson loves Charlie Cowie Schmidt. It has three names because Karson does. He picked it out all by himself.

The cat has liked climbing in our Christmas tree. All my glass ornaments stayed in the boxes this year. It also has caused lots of tree troubles. Read a future blog for that story!!

The cat also likes to terroize Kelton. It gets in his bouncy seat or bites at his toes while he is sleeping. It also likes my students when they come over, especially 2 brothers. If any of them leave papers on the floor, the cat eats them. The kids can go back and tell the teacher "the cat ate my homework!!" STRANGE CAT.

The cat and Emmy have become good friends and enjoy playing together. It gets energy out of Emmy after being couped up all days on these cold days.
