Special Prayer
I have a very special prayer request for everyone. We have a college friend that is fighting a very rare form of bone cancer. He has undergone many surgeries, tried treatment in Germany, and continues to fight it off. You can read up on their blog. http://thewims.blogspot.com/ The cancer has spread to his lungs and he is having trouble breathing. They called hospice yesterday. Please pray for him to be strong and keep fighting. Also pray for their family. He has a wonderful wife that we went to college with and I also went to Camp Blue Haven with. They have two young children- 4years and nearly 2 (I think). They have been so strong throughout this entire fight and have a love for the Lord. I am amazed and humbled everytime I read their blog. It is an awesome family and story. Please, Please pray for them!! God works in miraculous ways!!

Christmas Day
Christmas day was a quiet day for us. After Santa came, the grandparents came over for lunch and to watch the boys open presents from mom and dad.
Three Handsome boys wish you Merry Christmas
Three Handsome boys wish you Merry Christmas
Merry Christmas from the Schmidts
Kelton tells Great Granddaddy Durward all he got
Dad stayed up too late watching a movie
Kelton got into opening presents too. The boys were not fast enough opening his so he decided he would try to get into them himself. He was pretty successful!!
After opening presents the paper was way more fun than the gifts!
Whoa, Gene!! Easy with the scissors- we'll get you a different present next year!
Two of a kind!! I am very thankful for a terrific mom. She is wonderful with the boys and a great help. She is willing to drop everything and help me. She also is great about suprising me with a clean house and clothes ironed. We will miss you when you move a few blocks over. People always claim we look alike (even since I was younger). I couldn't ask to look like a better person. You're the best, MOM!!
Santa's visit
Santa's Little Helpers are dressed and ready for bed. Karson was ready to go to bed so Santa would come visit. The went to bed early but sat around playing in bed. Unfortunately, we had to use a little force to get them to sleep!! Even bribing with Santa wouldn't work.
Ms. Jackie knew that Karson was worried about Santa getting into our house since we don't have a chimney so she bought him a Santa key. He hung it on the door as he set out the milk and cookies.
Santa supported John Deere way too much this year
Boys looking at their toys. Karson was up first after mom and woke up everyone. He looked at the presents and then said that Santa didn't eat the cookies. He was not happy!! Santa did eat one and took a bite out of the others. Maybe next year Santa will be hungrier!! OOPS!! Korbin was so sleepy he wasn't too sure about it but really liked it when daddy got the tractors out.

December Happenings
Another month has come and gone. We look back at all the exciting memories we have made in 2008 and anxiously await the new year and all it has for us.
Bright eyes is happy ALL the time
Bright eyes is happy ALL the time
Those boys!! Two of a kind share ice cream and give momma a hard time
Mr. Fireman will charm the girls one day with those eyes
Wiped out- Love how Kelton is sleeping so peacefully
These two have been really fighting naps and bedtime lately. They are driving us crazy. They play and toss and turn for up to 2 hours. It is just so hard for them to wind down and close their eyes. We have tried everything but will still take any suggestions. Tonight they finally fell asleep together. How Sweet!!
Karson still loves to play with his train track and today he built an awesome track totally by himself. I came back in the room and he had created this. He is quite the engineer like his daddy!
I cleaned out part of the boys toys and closet today knowing it would be full again after Christmas. Karson found a cash register I had bought at a garage sale and wanted to play with it. When I returned it was full of money. He had emptied the piggy bank to fill it up. Smart boy though, because he emptied Korbin's first and then his. Mom caught him doing his so it is still full. Later I found Korbin's and realized what had happened. Sneaky big brother!!
5 months old
Sweet Kelton is 5 months old. It is hard to believe how fast time has gone. He is the happiest and best baby. We are finally getting better at night and not having to sleep in mom's bed the entire time. She is also getting more sleep so everyone is happier. I am rolling all over the place and have nearly mastered sitting up. I need just limited support. Cereal is great especially mixed with apple juice. Life is great!!
Timber-Falling Tree
The cat (Karson's birthday present last month) loves to climb our tree. We have had the tree up for about a week with no ornaments and it climbed up it everyday. I was smart enough to know not to put glass ornaments on it this year. We finally got it decorated one night when Brent was home. The next morning we were sleeping in and heard Karson get up. He was in the living room and was shouting "NO, NO, No, NoKitty- Stop that!!" Then we hear BANG< CRASH. We go in there to find the following picture and screaming child. Do you see that splash of orange in the middle of the tree?? That is Karson's shirt. He is totally under the tree. The cat was in the tree and he was trying to get him out. Luckily, only one ornament was broken but I easily glued it back together.
Trimming the Tree
The boys helped us decorate the tree this year. I don't have a very elaborate tree so it was wonderful that they could help. I really am glad that I have been able to control my urges to rearrange the ornaments and make it look better. Several of the ornaments were on the same branch and most were towards the bottom. Karson did get a chair and we got more towards the top. Just looking at it reminds me of the boys and how special they are. These memories are way more important than a pretty tree!!
MeMe and PaPaw have been really busy with work, school, and fixing up their new house and didn't have their tree up yet. We finally called them and told them if they would put it out, we would help them decorate. They agreed and the boys helped decorate the tree. PaPaw was more paticular about where to put the ornaments than I was but the boys didn't mind and loved helping.

Kelton's first cereal
12/5/08
Kelton finally got to taste "real" food-if you want to call cereal that. At first he wasn't too sure of it but mom added some apple juice and it tasted pretty good. Towards the end he began making faces. He continues to eat cereal and does ok. We just like to help mom eat by sticking our fingers in our mouths. So, by the end of the meal we are really really messy and usually bumbo and all get a bath. Korbin was a messy eater and finally got better so we are crossing our fingers.

Mom of many talents
December 15-
I learned that I was a mom of many talents today. Brent gets roped into helping his dad strip and plant every year. That is about as much farming as he does and tries to stay on the horses the rest of the time. They started striping the cotton Thanksgiving and have been going strong ever since. It means late nights, few horses ridden, grouchy men!! Plus mom and boys are ready to have dad back also. Brent thought they were on the last stages when his dad and granddad left the farm to head to the farm in Martin Co to combine the maize while they had someone contracted out to help them. This just left Brent and the hand. Not much would get done. Brent was pretty frustrated and called to see if I had any suggestions. He asked about Dad, me, anything. I told him no to clean house and do laundry instead. However, about lunch I began to feel bad and called back to volunteer- I HAVE NEVER DRIVEN A STRIPPER BEFORE!! It was going to be an experience and I was pretty nervous. Plus, what do you do with three boys. Brent got me on the stripper, left older two boys in car to watch a movie, and Kelton in our laps. He showed me how to run it and it was pretty simple. I finally got the hang of it and he turned me lose. Kelton rode in the seat behind me and Grammy rescued the other two boys. We ran all afternoon and into the night. It wasn't too bad until dark and you had to get out to unstop the pickers. It was COLD!! Luckily, Gene showed up and I had students coming for tutoring so I got to quit early. I just hope I didn't ruin the crop too much. I guess if not, I won't be asked to do it again next year. At least I didn't break anything. Lots of friends have given their suggestions on how to run over or break the tractors so they are not asked to help again!! It was fun and now I can run an Army Tank!!

Put some color in mom's life
12/9/08-
I took Karson to buy gifts for his brothers and Daddy. Halfway through Wal-Mart, Brent calls to tell me to call him when I get to our corner and he will leave. This means leaving Korbin and Kelton home alone. I can not figure out what he is talking about and begin to worry why he wants to leave our children alone. Finally, he explains that he doesn't want to be around when it all blows up. Seems that Korbin found the markers and decorated our house. He colored on the recliner, swing, couch, Bumbo, bar stools, card table, and rug. Where was dad?? Sitting at the kitchen table on the computer. So much for babysitting!! Luckily, they were dry erase markers and came up easily. Karson tried it about this age with black permanent markers on my white closet door. Magic Eraser cleaner works wonders!!!!

Lego Men
Karson and Korbin have really gotten into building with Legos since I moved the table out of the way for the Christmas tree. Karson tries to make the tower as tall as possible and puts a helicopter on the top. It doesn't always last very long since it is made of single legos. Korbin does his own and tries to help but usually just ends up knocking it down. When Karson gets one built, he exclaims "look, mom, a helicoter. I did it WOW!" It's pretty cute!!
